For over 50 years, the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) has showcased the best HBCU athletics has to offer. Since its foundation, the MEAC has evolved beyond just a competitive outlet – providing opportunities for its member institutions and student-athletes, the MEAC’s mission is realized both on and off the field. In light of the recent loss of three member institutions, the MEAC tasked 160over90 with a creating new, compelling brand narrative and PR support to propel them into the next chapter of the conference’s storied legacy.
Elevating competition and creating opportunities to level the playing field for all.
As a collection of eight institutions, the MEAC is guided by common values – a belief in Scholarship, Community Service, Sportsmanship, and Citizenship. Bringing these values to life, 160over90 developed a creative platform centered around the idea of Step In. The platform pays homage to the MEAC, defining the collective as an HBCU cultural staple and home for black excellence. Step In makes one point crystal clear: the MEAC is poised to promote its image nationally and ready to show the world what it’s made of.
Combined with integrations across social, digital, PR and event touchpoints, the brand launched a new :30 PSA that aired during football broadcasts. 160over90 led strategic PR initiatives, securing media coverage to tout the MEAC’s cultural impact, featuring both their athletic and academic accomplishments.
